A short break

Well it's been a while since I blogged on here.
I have a good 5 post stint in July/August 08 but then I've let myself go.
It always happens. I do so well and then just forget to blog after a while.
Things are great in my life. Well relatively.
Work is same as usual. I'm back studying again.
I've started a Bachelor of Communications by correspondence.
Hoping to major in PR, ultimately would like to do fashion or retail PR.
It's going pretty well so far. I only started with one subject, wasn't sure how I would cope, but I'm finding it really easy to manage.
I've enrolled in 3 subjects for the next study period, ramping it up a bit but I'm sure I'll manage. I'll have to!
I just want to get through this degree as quickly as possible. It's crazy how impatient I am for this to happen.
I'm off to Hawaii with my mum in a little under 2 weeks. Honolulu for a couple of days and then Maui for about 7 days. Cannot wait. Had a short break over Christmas but didn't really do much. Just hung out at home with the boy.
He's off to Japan for the second time in 12 mths with one of his friends.
I'm sure he'll have a great time, I'm just a little jealous.
I want to go to Hawaii but I'd also love to go to Japan again. Absolutely adored it there.
So crazy and fun.
I'm really considering spending a longer period of time there, maybe at the end of this year or next year.
We both have to get our studies and finances under control though before we make a huge move like that.
I was apprehensive about doing something like that (ie. moving to another country for an extended period of time) because I love Melbourne so much and would miss my family terribly. But at the end of the day, I'm only young once and I should make the most of the time I have.
Put fear aside and do something crazy like relocate to Tokyo. Jimmie would be pleased. He has wanted to move there since we first visited in April 2008.
So much to consider and so much time to do so.
Last note, I'm quite into fashion blogs at the moment and have just discovered a whole new world of Melbourne fashion blogs. Previously I was just reading the big US ones and a couple from people I know in Melbourne.
I'm loving it. I wish I was as trendy as all the beautiful girls that are fashion blogging around Melbourne right now.
But for now, I'm happy just being an observer.

Games Of Farce

So the Olympics are on at the moment in Beijing and I'm definitely not a fan. We started off the Olympic week great, not being drawn in by the hype but then in a moment of TV deprivation/desperation we switched on the Olympic channel and have been watching ever since. I'm not even enjoying it but the other channels have just given up and are playing repeats of really old shows or new episodes of shit series'. We can never agree on DVDs to watch so they are out of the question. It's a real problem. I feel guilty watching the Olympics because I don't approve of China's treatment of their people, animals, environment and so on. More and more stories on corruption in regards to these Olympics keep pouring out. Some of their gymnasts are underage and the IOC refuse to do anything about it. The footprint fireworks in the opening ceremony were digital. The little girl that 'sang' in the opening ceremony was lip syncing because the real singer (an 8 year old) was not pretty enough to represent China. The group of children in the ceremony which were heralded as representing all 55 ethnic minority groups in China were actually all from the dominant Han population. In the opening ceremony rehearsal one of China's best classical dancers had an accident and is now a paraplegic. China tried to cover this up, releasing statements saying that she had just broken her leg, nothing serious. Though I don't think paraplegia counts as having 'a broken leg'. The so called 'protest parks' China set up are ridiculous. Out of the way of tourists and the media; they are a mockery of the right to protest. The media is censored to a great degree. Banned from asking questions of atheletes about their thoughts on the situation in Tibet, Georgia etc. 'Detained' if they do publish anything about Tibet that reflects negatively on China. The Great Firewall Of China prevents journalists and atheletes from having unfetted access to the WWW. All hotels in Beijing were forced to install internet surveillance software so that the Chinese government could monitor what websites guests were viewing. Invasion of privacy much? China even blocked the itunes store because it was selling a compilation CD titles Songs For Tibet and offering it for free to Olympic athletes. How is a CD with douchbags like Sting, Moby, John Mayer and Dave Matthews on it going to detrimentally affect the Olympics?! Really, is 'We Are All Made Of Stars' by Moby going to incite a riot? I don't think so. Why can't they just let things be? China is making itself look worse by going on this rampage of renouncing, blocking, banning and lying. Once the games are over though they're just going to go back to opressing their people and polluting the world, just like they were doing prior to the Olympics. Nothing has changed, no matter how much China tries to con[vince] us.

Tight Squeeze

Only in America would 26 cheerleaders get stuck in a lift. In a clever attempt at getting the world to see them as having brains at least half the size of their chests these brainiacs decided to squeeze as many cheerleaders as possible into an elevator. The point of this exercise is unclear. The result was that the elevator doors closed and went down one floor but then would not open. Hilarity resulted with 26 cheerleaders going mental; screaming, texting, calling 911 and just generally freaking out. Unfortunately someone did come and rescue them. Though I think it would have been kinder to humanity to have left them there to rot with their pom poms. The less stupid people there are in the world, the better it will be for the rest of us.

Tastes like chicken

There's this story I have been following in the news recently and it's quite disturbing.
There was this bus travelling through Canada with 37 people on board and they made a stop some place so people could pee and have a fag. Then they all got back on the bus and about 20 minutes later one of the passengers went berserk and starting stabbing the guy next to him. Lo and behold everyone bolted from the bus, the bus driver managed to lock the bus door and disable the engine so the crazy man couldn't drive away. Then the dude starts hacking up the body of his fellow passenger and even manages to remove the head of his victim. By now police have arrived wondering what the fuck is going on and when the dude notices them he starts taunting them waving his new friend, the severed head, around! Hilarious, I know! But that's not all, apparently now a police recording of one of the officers communicating back to base (or whatever) has been leaked onto the net and he says that he can see the attacker eating parts of his victim's flesh... Well now I know what the problem was, the guy was just hungry! See what starvation can do to a guy! Imagine if all the starving children in Africa snapped like that. There would be no one left! They would have all eaten each other. The horror. Maybe someone in Mugabe's faux government will snap and eat him. That'd be cool. Anyway, this crazy dude, like all crazy dudes, prior to his episode was a completely normal guy! Whodathunkit!
Neighbour #1: Oh he was such a nice man, quiet but cleanly dressed.
Boss: He was very puntual, polite and we had no odd suspiscions about him.
Well you know now. Don't think bus killer will have a job to return to when he goes home or a wife for that matter.

There's crazy people every where. Moral of this story, don't sit next to weird Chinese guys on buses in Canada with 100 pieces of beef jerky strapped to your body. It's never gonna work out to your advantage.

Grey Matter

There's this awesome website call Damn Interesting which I am sure most internerds have been to and possibly read. It really lives up to its name sake. It is damn interesting. There's articles on so many different topics and they're divided up into catagories like ones to do with science, medicine, history, disasters, nature, space exploration, technology and strange phenonmenon. There's a wealth of knowledge on there that most people won't even be aware of. Some of the stuff is so random it really blows your mind. Like one of the articles I read today (in the medical science section) was about this park in America that they use to study dead bodies. Well the decay of corpses. So I guess you can't really call it a park in the general sense of the word, no picnics as such. And these forensic science type students put bodies in different situations to see how they decay. Coolness.

Chemical Enhancement

My hair smells like chemicals and I like it.

That was a pretty pointless first sentence but at least I've started writing now.

We'll soon see how this blog progresses. I'm not very good at keeping up appearances with these things.
I generally lose interest quite quickly.

I quite like the title of my blog as I like the idea of eating molten cake. Especially if it was molten chocolate cake.
I'd probably burn my mouth but it would totally be worth it.

Speaking of food, I can't wait for lunch time... Roast lamb, potatoes and carrot. *drool*
